drug detoxification
Know anyone who is struggling with alcohol and drug addiction? Stone Hawk is the most successful drug treatment program in the country, with a history of an astounding 76%+ success rate. That means that more than 3 out of 4 of Narconon Stone Hawk's graduates leave clean, and stay clean. This far exceeds that success rate of traditional 12-step programs and other alternative methods of drug rehab.
Narconon Stone Hawk's treatment program utilizes a drug-free approach which may seem like common sense, but in fact many addiction treatment facilities utilize drugs in their programs. The use of medications and drugs have not proven to be an effective method of solving the problems of drug addiction and alcohol abuse, and they reject the idea that it is in the best interest of a habitual drug user to introduce more chemicals into the body during this phase of cleansing and health-focused drug rehabilitation. Stone Hawk's specific drug detoxification is called the "Narconon New Life Detoxification Program". I read that this treatment program has proven to be effective at removing the toxins from the body, which is a very important step in the drug rehab process. The actual process of detoxifying the body of these materials includes long periods of time in a dry sauna, literally sweating the toxins out. Combine that with the power of proper diet, exercise, and supplementation, and the student can confidently move forward totally drug free.
If you or a loved one are struggling with substance or alcohol addiction, Narconon Stone Hawk is a place to let the healing begin.

Here We Go Again...
It feels like yesterday that I was back home, visiting my family in Vancouver. Oh, wait a minute, I was. Actually, that was more like almost a month ago. Crazy how time just flies, doesn't it? It's a little after 2AM and I just finished packing. Tell me, how is it that it took me almost two hours to pack my small luggage for a four day trip?
On second thought, don't.
I will be boarding United Airlines, Flight #____ in approximately 14 hours, with two hour layover in Chicago's O'Hare. Lovely. I just love O'Hare. I love how Chicago's schizophrenic weather results in many flight delays. I also love how Chicago's penchant for storms result in many flights being re-routed to neighboring airports. So convenient for travellers. Don't mind the sarcasm. I just hope I arrive into Vancouver on time.
I am certifiably exhausted but at the same time wired, which is probably the reason why I am up at this insane hour blogging away. It takes me a while to unwind and at this time I really don't feel like my usual nightly routine of reading a book. I think, however, what I really need right at this moment is for Jesus to come and meeet me in this exhausted state that I'm in. What was that promise He made in Matthew 11? "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Work through my stubborn heart, Lord Jesus, and help me find rest in my soul.......

Count Down...
So in three more days I'm flying back to Vancouver. Yes, you heard me correctly. I am flying back to Vancouver this Wednesday evening for four days.
AGAIN.
Seems like everyone and their dog in my family has decided to get married this coming weekend. Earlier this afternoon I popped by Cherry Hill mall to check out Banana Republic and much to my delight the store was having this huge sale. For those who know me well, I *HEART* Banana Republic. It is seriously my favorite store and if money was not an issue, I would honestly buy all my clothes from there. Nonetheless, I did end up spending somewhat an obscene amount of money this afternoon at BR, however my justification is the fact that the clothes I bought were all on sale and were much needed. Really. Honestly.
I mean, I'm attending two weddings at the end of this week and I can't exactly wear a burlap sack, right?

Dumb Ass Moment #7
So I'm borrowing a book authored by presidential candidate, Barack Obama, "The Audacity of Hope", from my good friend SeminaryBoy. I was hanging out at his place for a few minutes tonight when he gave me the book. As I was flipping through Obama's book, I blurted out to SeminaryBoy, "So, does it have any pictures?". SeminaryBoy gave me this look of, "Are you kidding me?". I laughed stupidly and explained to him that I was looking for pictures placed in the center of most biographies. While SeminaryBoy understood what I was talking about, he just continued to shake his head and laugh at me.
Really, I'm not that stupid. Honest.
Really, I'm not that stupid. Honest.

Dickie Chick!
Wha-at? Two posts in one week? Un-freakin-believable! What can I say...I'm feeling somewhat ambitious. Although, one of my motive for posting is a result from a scolding from my pal, The Rev, this past weekend. While you never see her comment on my posts, The Rev is one of my ever so faithful readers and she has conveyed her frustration with me everytime she opens up my blog, only to find the same post from two weeks ago. Her initial response? "DAMMIT JOY!" So with all that to say, here it is, a new post written merely days after the previous one.
Go me.
My ol' college pal, Dickie Chick , came out here to the East Coast for an extended weekend visit with me. Since it was her first time out here, I gave her the grand tour of some of my favorite places. We hung out in NYC for two full days and traipsed through some of my favorite places in Philly. Despite the sleet, snow, and sub-zero weather we experience last weekend, we still managed to have a wonderful time and a lot of laughs.
So, what did we NOT do in NYC? It was Dickie Chick's first time visiting the Big Apple, therefore we had to take in all of the major sights (WE, meaning myself, Dickie Chick, and The Rev):
Photo opps at the top of the Empire State Building.
Windy. Messy hair. Smiles.
Walking through sleet covered sidewalks to Times Square.
Attempts for rush tickets. Failed.
Carnegie Deli Pastrami's and Knishes. Yum.
Columbia University. Fleeting thoughts of IvyLeague Boy. I was fine.
Met up with Jenny.
Starbucks. Photos of random boots.
Bob.
Greenwich Village. The Olive Tree. I love Israeli salads.
Train rides.
Statue of Liberty from afar.
Hot Dog Stands.
Ground Zero. Rebuilding.
Canal Street. China Town.
Metro Cards.
Grand Central Station.
Rockefellar Center. NBC.
FAO Schwarz. BIG piano.
And what did we do in Philly?
Elphreths Alley.
Glimpses of Besty Ross's abode.
Society Hill.
Pat's King of Steaks. Need I say more? (THE original Philly Cheesesteak!)
PJ buffalo wings.
The Italian Market. Cheap crabs.
Philadelphia Art Museum. Rocky. Chilean boy. Cute Chilean boy.
Rocky statue. What a stud.
I dropped off Dickie Chick at Newark International Airport this past Tuesday and life as I know it has resumed back to a semblance of normalcy. As tiring as it was, exploring the city, staying up all night chatting and watching movies, I really treasured all this time I had with Dickie Chick instead of the usual one or two hour spurts that we get whenever I am in the West Coast for a visit. It's late and I better hit the sack. I still need to catch up with all the sleep I lost from this last week!
Mwah's to Dickie Chick!!! I'll be waiting for those photos!

Joshie Part II
Alright, alright.....I know I really suck for leaving y'all hanging from my previous post. So sorry. Life just kind of got in the way over these last few weeks. *sigh*
So here's the story......
Yep, I saw Josh Groban for FREE in concert a few weeks ago and you all are probably wondering how Frenchgirl and I got in for FREE, right? Well, we just batted our eye lashes at the security guard and he let us in. ;) My co-worker and I are quite "smitten" with Josh Groban, purely for his voice mind you, and when we heard that he was performing at the Wachovia Center in Philly, we knew that we had to somehow get into that concert. Tickets ranged between $120 - $200 and being the poor social workers that we are, we did not want to fork out that kind of money for the concert. So I came up with this grand plan of arriving at the concert after it started, with hopes of buying discounted tickets at the box office. So when the blessed event came upon us, we drove out to the WC. The parking attendant even let us park for FREE when we arrived and so we even saved about $15 in parking! He waved us in and told us that we could park for free since we were so late for the concert. Pretty sweet huh? There was a security guard when we entered the Wachovia Center who asked for our tickets. When we told him we wanted to buy tickets from the box office, he informed us that the box office had closed. I thought he was going to ask us to leave at that point, but instead he told us that since the concert was already half-way over, we could just walk in and look for seats as long as we didn't bother people who were already there. Pretty incredible huh? We ended up just standing because it was a full house, however the area we watched the concert from was awesome. We were standing on the level just above floor seating with a center stage view. It was SWE-ET! I didn't care that we missed half of the concert, just as long as I had the chance to see him perform live. The concert was awesome and Josh's voice is nothing short of amazing! Next time Josh comes to town, I think I may have to fork out the money to see the entire concert. *sigh*
Peace out.
